The U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP), which has been based in the Ann Arbor (Mich.) Ice Cube for the last 18 years, is moving to a new venue.

The USA Hockey Foundation purchased Compuware Arena, located 20 minutes away in Plymouth, Mich., and renamed it USA Hockey Arena over the summer. The facility seats 3,600 fans and presents an excellent opportunity for the NTDP.

The move to a larger facility means that USA Hockey will be able to host college and international hockey games and tournaments. At least 35 games are to be expected at the new arena this year.
The facility will also undergo a number of changes over the next few years to make it a true home for the NTDP program. A 20,000-square foot addition will be put on the east side of the building to house a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility which will include a skating treadmill, dryland shooting stations and more. There will be classrooms and video facilities for staff and players to use.

The entire facility will be rebranded in USA Hockey artwork and signage and the front lobby will have displays and photographs featuring Olympic teams and other USA Hockey players.

The NTDP consists of two teams: the U-17 team, which competes in the United States Hockey League, and the U-18 team, which plays NCAA Division I and III teams, as well as other USHL teams. Center ice at the arena was recently painted with the USA Hockey logo, and the teams will start practicing and playing there this fall.
