About the Foundation

Our Mission

Since 1989, The USA Hockey Foundation has been the charitable non-profit organization supporting USA Hockey’s strategic initiatives of sustaining and growing the sport of hockey in the United States.

The USA Hockey Foundation works in partnership with forward-thinking donors to generate restricted and unrestricted funding to fuel USA Hockey.  These impact areas range from supporting new members through trying hockey for the first time to assisting them during their times of need.  Providing support that transcends traditional paths is also key through restricted funds for growing and supporting a membership inclusive of disabled, female, and racially diverse individuals.

The USA Hockey Foundation puts your gift to work by:

  • Providing sustainable support for programs that provide access for disabled athletes to experience the game of hockey.
  • Making grants to numerous Hockey is for Everyone (HIFE) programs.  HIFE is the NHL's youth development program that supports organization that bring the sport to participants of all diversities, including various inner-city youth.
  • Investing in research for the purpose of keeping the sport of hockey as safe and injury-free as possible for its participants.
  • Supporting national awards including the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award (awarded annually to the top Division I female college hockey player) and the Lester Patrick Trophy (given annually in collaboration with the National Hockey League to a person or persons who have made significant contributions to hockey in the United States), recognizing top influencers, players and coaches in the game today.
