To apply for a grant from The USA Hockey Foundation, please complete a grant application and attach all the required documents. Failure to attach the requested budget, IRS determination letter and IRS 990 form, will negatively impact your grant application.

  • A brief history of the organization, its mission, principal programs and accomplishments.
  • A concise statement of the purpose of the request and the amount requested; outline the need for the project, the specific solutions to be reached, the expected contributions to the population served and the criteria for measuring success.
  • Include a detailed organizational budget for the current year, a documented budget of the project for the proposed term of the grant, the total amount to be raised and a list of expected sources of funds.;
  • The request must include a plan for evaluating the effectiveness of the program that is expected to be funded and indicate how the organization plans to fund the program once The USA Hockey Foundation funding ceases.

The USA Hockey Foundation policy generally does not award grants under the following conditions:

Brianna Decker Endowment Fund for Girls Hockey

The Brianna Decker Endowment for Girls Hockey was created through the USA Hockey Foundation by 2018 Olympic gold medalist Brianna Decker.

The fund provided grants to 8U and 10U female hockey programs within the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association - in Brianna's home state - in its first years. The grant program has been so successful, it is now open to USA Hockey associations across the United States.

Awards specific to this fund will be used exclusively to develop programs focused on increasing female youth participation in hockey by alleviating costs around ice and equipment, advertising and marketing, and overall development.

All awards will be paid to the qualifying USA Hockey association applying for the grant, and not to individuals. Grant requests must be submitted on an annual basis to The USA Hockey Foundation by the grant application deadline of June 1.

For questions, please contact Sheila May (719) 538-1107 or email at sheilam@usahockey.org.

HOCKEY HISPANA FUND

The Hockey Hispana Fund was started in 2021 through a generous gift from The Dawson Family.  The goal of the Hockey Hispana Fund is to help make the sport of hockey more inclusive for Latina youth hockey players in Colorado.

The fund provides grants to 8U and 10 female hockey players who are of Hispanic heritage, are residents of Colorado and registered with a USA Hockey sanctioned association.

Awards specific to this fund will be awarded to the player's association to be applied to costs associated with the player's registration fees and membership fees.

Grant applications must be submitted on an annual basis to The USA Hockey Foundation by the grant application deadline of June 1st each year.
